This Sunday, the Falcons and Patriots will square off in the final game of the post-season. The Falcons’ high-powered offense catapulted them to wins over the Seahawks and Packers. Matt Ryan threw for nearly 5,000 yards this season, while Devonta Freeman ran for over 1,000. Julio Jones had 1,409 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. Their offense could not be stopped during the regular season, and has not been stopped in the playoffs. Even after missing the first four games, Tom Brady was able to amass 3,554 passing yards and throw 28 touchdowns. They were able to beat both the Texans and the Steelers in the playoffs. It is even more astounding that he did all of this with Rob Gronkowski mostly absent. LeGarrette Blount was the Patriots’ workhorse this year. He ran for 1,161 yards and was responsible for 18 rushing touchdowns. Without further adieu, our predictions are below!
Tyler: The Falcons’ offense has been fun to watch. They can take the top off of a defense, or run it down their throat. Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman provide a good one-two punch, while Matt Ryan has played some of the best football of his career. Tom Brady has continued to be amazing, but he is getting older. This may be his last trip to the Super Bowl, even though he says otherwise. As much as I like the Falcons’ offense, I have to go with Belichick and Brady. They complete each other, and Brady is arguably the best quarterback of all time.
Prediction: Patriots 35, Falcons 28
Matt: This season, the New England Patriots are having one of their most successful seasons in franchise history. This is truly remarkable since MVP, and four time Super Bowl champion, Tom Brady missed the first four games due to the “Deflategate” scandal. The Patriots have so much experience on their team. Their offense is one of the best in the league even with Gronkowski injured. Bill Belichick is a future hall of famer who is one Super Bowl win away from matching Vince Lombardi’s five Super Bowl wins. Lastly, the Patriots have the better defense, and I believe that is what will win them the game.
Prediction: Patriots 31, Falcons 28
